01 The Beginning

Things started with Web 1.0 — a static, read-only collection of websites and hyperlinks, powered by basic HTML and simple protocols. It was the digital dawn, where information was published but rarely interacted with. This era was defined by simplicity, with websites as digital brochures offering one-way communication where content creators published information and passive readers consumed it.

There was no interactivity, no user accounts, no dynamic content—just static pages linked together through hyperlinks. The web was a library, not a conversation.

02 The Social Web

Web 2.0 — The Social & Interactive Web (mid-2000s – present) brought us the read-write paradigm, where users became both creators and consumers, platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter emerged, and the internet became a place of community, participation, and dynamic content.

Blogs, social media profiles, and user-generated content became the norm rather than the exception. The web evolved from a collection of static documents into a living, breathing ecosystem of human expression and interaction.

03 Decentralization

Web 3.0 emerged as a vision for a decentralized internet, built on blockchain, smart contracts, and distributed systems, promising greater ownership, transparency, and user control over digital assets and identities.

Built on technologies like blockchain, cryptocurrency, smart contracts, and decentralized networks, Web 3.0 aims to return power to the users. The promise includes true digital ownership—where users actually own their data, content, and digital assets rather than merely licensing them from platforms.

There's a concept in programming called the circular array. When you reach the array's last element (element n+1) and move forward, you wrap back around to the first (element: 0). ERA-0 is that last element, a return to what's essential. We've come full circle from static information to social interaction to decentralized control, and now we're returning to human experience at the center.
